On the 13th & 20th of November, our Boxing Youth Class at the Teen & Twenty Club in Tonbridge had a special visitor Sporting Champion GB & England boxer Hannah Beharry. Our session which runs weekly 6.30-7.30pm every Thursday is a funded project by Sportivate & Circle Housing-Russet.
Sportivate is a funding organisation set up by Sport England which helps fund sport projects within communities as a pathway for young people to try out sport.
Circle Housing-Russet is the local housing association for the area that really believe in helping get the young people off the street & doing something positive with their time.
Sporting Champion Hannah Beharry has represented GB & England across the globe winning various gold medals, so it was fantastic to have her help at our project. Hannah has attended two sessions so far out of this lastest block of six weeks. The young people really enjoyed the sessions listening to Hannah’s motivational stories about her background & how boxing helped pave a way to a much better life with the discipline it teaches. Hannah helped coach the young people & gave some great demonstrations on the pads with coach Wayne Smith. Hannah has one more session booked with us to come & see how the group is progressing, which will be on Thursday 11th December 2014.
