Boxing For Parkinsons

Saturday saw us start our new dynamic programme Boxing For Parkinsons at St Marys ABC in Chatham for the people affected with the disease and their carers. We are delivering three FREE taster sessions ahead of Christmas engaging the local community and then we will be starting the full programme from January forward.

Dennis Stinchcombe MBE a coach with 42 years experience at the Broad Plain ABC in Bristol started this programme at his club two years ago and the success it has had for the people in his area has been fantastic! Dennis got in touch with us to see if we would start delivering a programme in Medway. Of course we would!!! Saturday’s session started off better than expected with 18 in attendance, everyone had great fun and loved the session. We even received a quote from a participant  ” You have done more for me in that hour than the NHS have!” That was great to hear that the first session had this impact. The session isn’t just about the training aspect for the people, it is also about the socialisation, reducing isolation and allowing them to meet other Parkinsons sufferers too. The doors open half hour before the session and close half hour after the session allowing them time to chat and have a cup of tea!

We have two more FREE Taster sessions booked before Christmas:

  • Saturday 17th November 2.30-3.30pm
  • Saturday 1st December 2.30-3.30pm
